Some Positive Feedback and WEbook.com!

Hey everyone! OK, so I have received two partial requests for my manuscript by agents and I have discovered a valuable tool that aspiring writers should definitely take advantage of. Let me get to the queries first.

OK, so I was expecting to wait about 2-3 months before anyone sent me any kind of response back...I was wrong.

I now have 6 rejection letters and 2 partial requests for my manuscript. There are still about 30 agents that have yet to respond so I'm not squealing with joy just yet. Who knows what the partial requests will present me with, they could be two more rejections playing with my already scrambled mind ;) I promise to keep everyone up to date on what happens.

Now, about WEbook. I kind of stumbled across this site, not really knowing what it was. Well, let me tell ya'...freaking awesome!

For those of you that are looking for agency representation, this site could be your diamond in the rough. There is something called the AgentInbox that is a free tool to writers.

Through the AgentInbox tool you can submit multiple queries and even requested sample pages to many different agents at one time. It is really neat guys, so do yourself a favor and check it out.

I'm typing away right now, so I've got to get going, but know that I will let you know as soon as I hear anything positive back from an agent.

Thanks everybody and Best Regards,

Marcus

All Queries Have Been Sent!

That's right, all of my literary agent query letters are out in the mail, doing their best to find my manuscript an agent and potentially, a new home with a publisher.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxiety ridden to the point of cold sweats and a slight mental breakdown-- so let's just say I'm a little stressed. It sounds a little less maniacal when stated that way.

Anyways, I'm starting the 2nd novel now, opening the door to a new adventure for Kalin and the other Nebu Khet (khet).

I should also be hearing back soon about a short story that was submitted to a magazine for publication. Keeping my fingers crossed on both accounts!

Remember that I'm on Twitter under the username "NebuKhet" and on Facebook. The Facebook account can be found by doing an email search for " NebuKhetsCry@Gmail.com "

Well I'm off now...back to the land of angry supernaturals and crushed dreams ;)

Best Regards,

Marcus

Character Playlist

It seems to be an interesting point that some people want to know so I created a playlist of songs that remind me of what each character is going through internally as well as in life. Their personalities are also reflected in the song lyrics/mood.

It's incomplete but I will add to it when I have time, right now I have to stay focused on the writing.

PS: You don't know some of the characters yet :)

Genre?

Okay,

So I always made the assumption that I was a science fiction writer, since my stuff has death but it isn't totally gory, therefore lacking the means to be labeled a horror writer. Okay, I'm wrong!

I am apparently an urban dark fantasy writer! Whoo-hoo!!!

So much more entertaining to be labeled with a three word genre rather than a two or one word one.

REMEMBER: Getting your genre right is important in the journey to getting published. You will be querying agents and you will most likely contact agents that have no interest in your work if you do not figure out what your genre is before hand. You will also list the wrong genre in your query letter which would be detrimental to your efforts considering that the agent will read your letter and then say, "How can I market or sell someone's work when that someone has no idea what kind of work they write?".

Anyways, happy writing to my author friends out there, and good luck on all your current and future endeavors.

Best Regards,

Marcus Twyman

Phones And Swimming Pools... I think you get the idea :(

Well, got pushed in the pool yesterday by a younger cousin- with DROID phone in my pocket. Thank God for insurance and overnight shipping.

Good news is...I got him back!

That'll teach him to mess with his elders!

OMG! Xtina and GaGa

Too funny not to share! Whoever made this is a true visual comic.

Query Letters Suck!

I wrote up a bunch of agent query letters today so that I can find someone to help me sell my novel. I write a manuscript that's over 110,000 words- no problem. Write a one page letter asking someone to represent and market your work- NERVE WRECKING!

Anyways, completion date for the manuscript should be between 6-8 weeks max. I really can't believe I'm almost done! 2 years in the making and lots of sleepless nights.

Anyways, I'll keep you all posted.

Best of Everything!

Almost Done With The Song I'm Pitching...

I'm almost finished with the song I've been working on. This is so not easy...I've got a deadline of Wednesday to get the completed song sent in to the publishing house. I'll see if I can upload it on here once I finish it.

Wish you all the best!

A New Character Sketch

Hey everyone, here's a rough sketch of the ancient Khet, Saru, from the novel. My cousin Chris is working on some sketches of the characters and I thought I'd let you see this rough one just to wet your appetite.

Therefore, without further ado...

I give you Saru!

Thanks Chris!

And the winner is *drum beat*....

Chakrele (sha-kr-e-l)

This name is so damn cool! This is the name I chose from dozens of submissions. It has its roots in the word "chakra" usually, from my understanding, pertaining to the colors of the aura.

I couldn't have asked for a more unique and interesting name if I tried.

CONGATULATIONS James Lenderking for being the winner!

You all will be hearing from this new character in the future!

At The Coffee Shop...Again...

Beautiful day out and where am I? At the local Borders, typing away, securing the tale of the Khet on the digital pages of my laptop's memory. Staring out at the warm day passing me by all due to my sacrifice to bring Kalin's story to life.

Oh well, I'll get my chance at freedom this upcoming Tuesday when I'll be in New York for Christina Aguilera's Today Show performance.

Take care everyone! Thanks for the continued support!
